1 Corinthians: Women in the Church (1 Cor 11:2-16)
Monday Dec 12, 2022
Monday Dec 12, 2022
In this episode, Rob and Vinnie discuss 1 Cor 11:2-16. Does Paul teach that the man is the head of the women, or is this a misreading of 1 Corinthians? Are women supposed to have a head covering? Or is that something Paul's opponents in Corinth were arguing and Paul then responds to them? Rob and Vinnie take on Complementarianism v Egalitarianism.

1 Corinthians: Jesus is Lord: idoltary and the Church (1 Cor 8-10)
Monday Dec 05, 2022
Monday Dec 05, 2022
In this episode, Rob and Vinnie continue their overview of 1 Corinthians by looking at 1 Cor 8-10. In this passage, Paul responds to some in Corinth that were claiming that since there is only one God and since other gods do not exist, it is acceptable for Christians to attend pagan banquets which we in honor of pagan gods. Paul responds by noting that the meat which was sold in the marketplace may be acceptable to buy and eat--unless it causes others to stumble--but attending pagan banquets in honor of a deity is not acceptable. Even if they have these rights, then should not use those rights because it will cause others to stumble.
This raises the question of Christian love and what it looks like today. we willing to sacrifice our "rights" for the sake of others?
Do we "run the race" so as to win the prize?

1Corinthians: Foolishness of the Gospel and the Church today
Monday Nov 07, 2022
Monday Nov 07, 2022
Rob and Vinnie examine 1 Cor 1-4 and Paul's reminder that the Gospel may be "foolishness" to the world, but it is the "wisdom of God for salvation." Then they question how Christianity even survived, let alone continued for 2,000 years. Finally, Rob and Vinnie conclude with a discussion of Paul's gospel of a cross-bearing love for the sake of the other and the contemporary church.

1 Corinthians: divisions in the Church: what can we do?
Monday Oct 31, 2022
Monday Oct 31, 2022
Rob and Vinnie look at the opening chapter of 1 Corinthians and the question of division in the church. Jesus, Paul, and the Scriptures are emphatic when it comes to maintaining the unity of the church. In fact, the unity of the church is to reflect the unity of the Trinity. What then do we do when it comes to the church today? How are we to be faithful to the Word when the church is so divided? Rob and Vinnie discuss all of this and more!

1st Corinthians: Paul and the Corinthians: tension
Monday Oct 24, 2022
Monday Oct 24, 2022
In this episode, Rob and Vinnie introduce us to the book of 1st Corinthians. There was probably no church that gave Paul as much grief as the church in Corinth. Why was that? In order to understand 1st Corinthians well, we need to understand what was going on in the Corinthian church and how the Greco-Roman world was influencing some of the leading men who were likely the primary source of the problems in Corinth
